Feeling Old?

Tonight Tyler and I had the opportunity to "feel our age." We put on a miniature Amazing Race and called it the Amazing Date for his Young Men. He has been encouraging them to go on dates, so he set up a special night and tried to get all of them to get dates. After a lot of reminding we got four of them there and had a lot of fun. We made a vow tonight that we would try and stay cool. You know, since we always have been! Oh, I did learn one thing, maybe I need to get some jelly shoes. They seem to be "in", I'm just not too sure about them because they make one's toes looked smashed and I know my feet would sweat like a whore in church--we'll see.



First we had a marshmallow gun fight to determine the order the teams would leave in.

Next was horseshoes where every member had to participate until they got one "ringer".

Then on to Newton Dam where they shot at skeet until their team had hit 5, everyone had to try. Boy, could the little gal in green shoot. The second picture is the twins in our ward, Tyler loves these guys.


Their next clue took them to a park in Smithfield to search playground equipment for their final clue. It was neck and neck as they found their clues here, then raced to the restaurant.(Obeying all traffic laws of course)

We got this idea from my cousin who did it as a family reunion, Tyler and I had a great time just watching them do it and we can't wait to do another one. During our drive we were discussing more ideas for the next one.

Last of all we ate at Firehouse and were able to stay there for 2 hours talking--we had all kinds of kids there, from marching band to drama, drill team to the football team. Everybody was included and had a great time. At one point in the conversation we were discussing dancing when all of the sudden one boy turned to his date (his first date) and very loudly and awkwardly said, "So how do you like your lunchcard picture this year?" I still giggle just thinking about it. Not one person laughed, they just all turned the conversation to their lunchcard pictures--what great kids.

Blog in a Book

My friend Tanna did this blog book through Blurb.com, so I tried it and loved the result. A few of you wanted me to post some pictures of it, so here they are. This book is an 8x10 size with the soft cover. The quality of the photos was really great and Tyler liked it a lot, so I think I will do one for every year. You can delete stuff you don't want and add anything you may have missed, and it was easy and so much fun to do. Best of all I didn't have to drag out any scrapbook supplies to do it! Plus, there are so many little, everyday things that I put in here that I never would have scrapbooked.

Bear World

On the 24th of July Tyler had the day off so we took a spur of the moment drive to Bear World in Rexburg. It is 2 1/2 hours away, but well worth it. Grandma and Grandpa even decided to join us which I was so grateful for. We got to see some pretty cool stuff.

Grizzly bear, a baby bear, and a black bear. I promise that my camera is not even zoomed on the black bear, we got to drive that close to him. They come right up to your vehicles and you are supposed to keep moving so they don't damage them. You're not allowed to roll your windows down, but when they are that close you can't resist a picture. We only saw one grizzly bear and one wolf laying down, but I'll bet we saw over 20 black bears. Oh, and you can let your kids feed the cubs for the great price of only $50.00--insane, we just watched them play.







Are these people a little big for the rides, come on, really?

Amusement park and petting zoo were included in the admission too, these kids had a hot, but great time.

Injuries of the Primary Sort

Have any of you ever had someone get you out of your church class because your child got injured? I think it only happens in Clarkston, or maybe just in Clarkston and to a child named Weston.

I was sitting in Senior Primary when I heard a loud cry outside in the hall. I handed Owen to a member of the Presidency and went out in the hall to assess the damage. It was Weston with a huge goose egg on his forehead and people around him gasping. This picture does not do the initial injury justice, but this is what happens when 5 year olds play duck, duck, goose, in a small room with chairs in the way and their heads meet the wall.

CampingTrip

This year the Godfrey family went camping, it is the first year we haven't gone to Lake Powell, but with all these youngsters it is just too hard and worrisome. Everyone was there except Uncle Jeremy, who was missed. We camped at St. Charles and spent one day at Bear Lake playing on the beach, tubing, and doing a little wakeboarding--after Tyler called me "stale" and guilted me into it. The water wasn't nearly as cold as it looked. We spent four days playing games, hiking, drinking pop, eating, sitting around the campfire, and visiting. We can't wait until next year, we had so much fun. This picture above is the whole family, it was taken right before we went through Minnetonka Cave.



Minnetonka Cave was really cool, literally. It was about 40 degrees and over 800 stairs to climb. Tyler packed two kids part of the way with Owen on his back, then Aunt Karly was nice enough to carry Paige most of the way out.

Clarkston Pony Express Days

Barnyard games on the square. The first one is Paige slowly galloping in the stick horse race and the second one is Hali pulling Weston in the hide pull. She was up against all boys and kicked their butts. Here's the babies during all of it, drinking everyone else's drinks and squirming to get away. If you think Tyler is MIA, it is because he spent a better part of the day at the roping where he missed the saddle by only getting one leg on the last steer--good news is he still got a check, which makes me happy if he comes home ahead of his entry fees.

Gunsight Gallop and the Giddyup Gallop. Weston ran in the one mile and I ran in the three mile race. We both got first place in our age groups (sorry about the bad blurry picture) and Weston did so great. He ran his mile in 11:10, way to go!

Here is a shot of Tyler in the morning, he did find a few minutes to sneak on the blow up slide while the guards weren't looking. He got some serious air and a small slide burn on his arm to show for it. Make sure you click on it to get the full effect of his awesomeness. And how many towns still let all the children bob for apples in a big tub of water? I'll take that over public pools and poopy diapers leaking in the pool anyday! We had a hot, but fun day.

The Big Swim Party

I never got pictures posted from Weston and Paige's swim party, so here they are. We had the best time and Paige is already planning her own "girl" party list for next year.
