Temple Night, Hair Blogs, and Primary

My sister Tiffany went to the temple last weekend and Tyler was roping so I watched all the kids. It wasn't too bad since she bought little presents, (treats, popcorn, a movie) and wrapped them up, then the kids got to open them up every fifteen minutes. Aunt Tiffy thinks of everything. Time just flew by and Zella really wasn't that unhappy all night, but she does love to be held.

I recently discovered hair blogs, these are blogs dedicated solely to Mom's doing their daughters' gorgeous hair in creative and sometimes weird ways, but I love them. Here is the first experiment that I am rather proud of, Paige wore it to church today. Keep reading to find out how sassy it made her. Oh, and apparently she is the perfect height for singeing her hair on our propane wall heater, because she did it again tonight on one side and the braid saved us, except for one little spot.

Getting ready for church began with the hair, didn't take too long. Ahhh, but them came the dress, she wanted the pink one, but the only tights I could find were the ones that sag on the ankles(bad ugly) and I can't handle them. I told her I would get her some decent tights this week and today she would have to wear a green dress. Well, that wasn't the right answer, she HATES green apparently. You see in Primary if there is extra time they let the kids share "Good News", and she told me that today she was going to say that she hated green for her good news. Fine by me...little did I know what she would actually come up with. She got me back.
After church a Primary teacher told me to ask Paige what she shared about her dad. They were talking about Dad's and they asked Paige to come up and tell something she liked about her dad, here is what she shared, "My dad likes to fight with my mom." Nice! I got this from multiple adult sources so it is pretty accurate, and Weston told us that everybody laughed especially the teachers. I was not amused, and I told her that if she cannot share anything nice then she can't share anything in the microphone at all anymore. (This is not our first time being laughed at, and I am afraid our kids will start doing stand-up at our expense for a good laugh, it could get really embarrassing) I sent her to sit on her bed after church and I went up a little later to find her praying, she said, "Please help me to be nice to my family, and please help me to be a nice girl."
Forgiven.
P.S. Honest, we do not fight that much.

Here's Owen tonight going to bed, he loves bedtime. No lie, he is holding six binkies and it gives me warm fuzzies. He loves them.

V-Day and Our Little Paige

I saw this one on my friend Sara's blog and I hope she doesn't mind me stealing it, but her blog is locked so I just wanted all of you to share in this joy of Valentine's Day with me. I reminds me of when I was at North Cache and they would sell carnations for the students to buy and send to each other. I never got one, secretly always wanted one, but I sure said nasty things about all the girls that went home with armfuls. I think this is the reason I want Tyler to do something, (mostly just take me to dinner), for Valentine's Day.

Here's what Paige has been up to, by the way, Stampin' Up ink lasts for days.

Just think they are cute. Tonight I took Anna with me to a baby shower and a girl there gave her a pink balloon she had her eye on, when she handed it to her Anna said, "Owie", as she pointed to the blue balloon. She is so sweet, she just knew Owen would want that one, so we took it home for him.

Pet Peeves

I was reading my sister's blog, and lo and behold, my lack of blogging is on her pet peeves list. It is for her and only her that I do this:

(Mine also are in no particular order, this is a little harder for me because ever since I had 4 kids in five years, there aren't that many things that bug me. If you don't believe just come to my house after I get the kids in bed, how it looks is how it remains until morning, and I sleep just fine.)

1. I hate it when people pretend to ignore their children's bad behavior so they don't have discipline them.

2. Uncapitalized proper nouns drive me insane, I don't mind if other people like to leave their children's names uncapitalized in scrapbooks, but I just can't make myself do it. I think this comes from years of telling my students to CAPITALIZE!

3. Now I know a lot of you do this, but here is your chance to change(if you want to), Tyler let me in on this one that I had said wrong for years... you should say, "I couldn't care less" instead of "I could care less." Sorry, it will bug you now.

4. When I stay up late and then my children wake up, their cries go all way through me right down to my toes. Then I am mad at myself and think, why didn't I go to bed two hours ago so I could have at least got a few hours in.

5. When the driver (mainly Tyler) drives, and drives, and drives to find a park instead of just parking far away and walking, which would have been faster.

6. Yarn and teeth. Enough said.

7. Dry hands and feet snagging on my garments.

8. Nazi checkers at Wal-Mart who won't give me that extra fifty cents off my pop because, "blah, blah, blah", or maybe Wal-Mart checkers in general.

9. Lazy sales people who act like you are bothering them when you ask them to do something within their job description.

If you just thought of any of your own pet peeves while reading this, consider yourself tagged!

Yes, January is Over!

Well, I don't have one new picture to post, but since it is February I need to move my old post down. And, I have now finished reading Jane Eyre and am going through withdrawals, the book consumed me and I wanted to do nothing but read. The twins have had the croup for a few days, which has now become a nightmare cold for all the kids. Hopefully we will soon get back to sleeping at night, In the meantime, I'll just be reading about Mr. Rochester, or watching him, since I had to buy the DVD's, and doling out the Tylenol. Right now all four kids are alseep, so I feel a nap coming on myself.

Is January Over Yet?

I hate January, it is when I realize there is still Christmas on the credit card, Tyler needs to do our taxes, the inversion sets in, and my treadmill is still dusty. Thank goodness for Netflix, that little red envelope makes my day. I just watched Jane Eyre from Masterpiece Theatre (PBS) last night, now I have to wait until Monday to see the second disc. It is killing me, and I just may read the book in the meantime, but probably not. I am posting this because I am tired of not having anything to post about so here are a few pictures from January.

Here's how Weston (along with Owen) had to look for days
after seeing High School Musical 3.

Bummer

The culprit.... on the left.
the damage...one broken bed.
The real story:
I was in the next room cleaning while waiting for the twins to go to sleep, but they had other plans. They decided to do bummers in their beds, and I thought they would soon tire and go to sleep. Then I heard a crash and went in to find that the heavyweight had busted his bed. In his words, "UH-OH!" Not so funny to me now because until it gets fixed he is sleeping in my room and taking advantage of it.

Merry, Merry, Merry!

We had a wonderful holiday season with lots of family, lots of food, and lots of good times.

Christmas Eve Party with Grandma and Grandpa Godfrey included some basketball, the kids singing in the program, pinata, and Santa.

The kids were thrilled with all their new things. Paige loved the Barbie Head she got, though if it is left alone in a room it can really freak you out. Weston got an MP3 player for the long Kindergarten bus ride, he is the only one who didn't have one! Oh, and Dad got Hulk Hands to get some energy out with Weston.

A little more of the tree mutilating by the twins, and more fun at Grandma Jaydene's.

On to the Ashcroft's where they were thrilled with more gifts, kind of cramped because they are in the middle of adding on. But the twins were thrilled to be pulled around in the wagon in the unfinished part. We are now awaiting spring to use it.

Thing one and two hiding behind the advent calendar. All the Christmas decor came down on the 26th and life has been easier.

Oh, and our anniversary came and went on Dec. 28th. I stayed home from church with sick kids, then Tyler spent most of the afternoon and evening trying to fix our friend's furnace because they are sitting on a beach in Australia and we were afraid of their pipes freezing.

We have been married for 8 years.
